About Mary Lantz, LCSW

Mary Lantz, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in individual, couples and family therapy.  She maintains a private practice in Montclair, NJ.  She has advanced training in working at a depth level with individuals and couples, receiving a certificate in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis of New Jersey (www.cppnj.org). 

With over fifteen years experience as a marriage and family therapist, and as a graduate of New York University School of Social Work, she is currently a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are individuals and couples struggling with depression, anxiety, and loss. She often works with both parents and adolescents who are coping with such issues as divorce, anger management, eating and self-image problems, as well as other forms of acting out behaviors.  In addition, she helps people work through critical life transitions such as divorce and endings of relationships.  She also has specific experience in helping people with chronic illness and its impact on family relationships.  She also works with individuals with elderly parents who are faced with important end of life decisions.

Prior to opening her private practice in 1998, Mary worked with adults with cystic fibrosis at the University of Minnesota Cystic Fibrosis Center.  She also worked as a clinical social worker on the Level I Trauma Center team at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.  Previously, Mary earned a Masters of Science in Human Behavior and Development from Drexel University and was an Associate Professor at Rutgers University working in the academic areas of nutrition education and parenting.
